Stockport-based packaging manufacturer, Glossop Cartons, is working with Marple Hall School to help prepare students for the world of work, in an educational partnership designed to educate young people about the job opportunities available to them.

Glassop Cartons' HR and procedures manager, Jane Brocklehurse, this spring visited Marple Hall School, where she conducted two days of practise interviews with students; pupils from the school also undertake work placements at the firm's Reddish factory.

Marple Hall School said: "We're committed to ensuring that our students receive the best possible careers guidance, and partnerships with local employers such as Glossop Cartons help us to achieve this important goal."

Glossop Carton' joint manager director, Jack Sidebottom-Every also added: "The company is pleased to be able to support local youngsters - especially those with an interest in manufacturing and engineering - as they begin to prepare for the world of work.

"Our partnership with Marple Hall - and that with Glossopdale School near our original Derbyshire premises - also helps us to address the packaging sector's skills shortage."

Established in 1982, Glossop Cartons is a family firm that invests in the latest technology, staff and systems and is committed to operating with environmental sustainability. It has achieved many business awards, including the title of 2018 Stockport Business Awards Business of the Year.

The company's markets include pharmaceutical and personal care, food and drink, vape and household, and customers include many blue-chip companies. Its product range comprises cartons, sleeves, wallets, bluster pack cards, skin pack cards, countertop and shelf displays, header and hanging cards.
