Home Instead Senior Care in Stockport hosted a successful free Christmas day lunch for more than 35 lonely seniors of Stockport.

The free Christmas event took place at the Rose Walker Centre, Essex Ave, Stockport SK3 0JA.

Home Instead offered transport, Christmas lunch, packed tea and a bag of gifts, all free of charge, thanks to the help and support from people in the local community.

Clare Cliff, Head of Caregiver Experience at Home Instead, said: "On Christmas day my dream came true with a festive lunch for older people from Stockport who would usually be alone.

"The event was a huge success due to the wonderful support from our community, and all of the people who volunteered to make the day so special. We are already thinking about next year and how we can make this a bigger event."

One attendee commented: "I haven't had a Christmas lunch in 13 years" whilst another said: "I never usually want to get up but today I was excited!" A third person said: "I am 95 and feel like I am 5 today, what a treat!"
