The chorus still contains 3 of the founder members who set up the singing group in 1980 and who perform regularly at events around the region.

The chorus have been a constant in the area for their 40 years and also take pride in supporting local charities. Since 2018 they have supported ‘Stockport Foodbank' which is part of the Trussell Trust national foodbank network and previously Mental Health Carers Group Stockport.

Over the last 40 years the chorus have gone from strength to strength culminating in a silver medal at the 2018 ladies barbershop national competition and an international silver medal at a competition in Ireland in 2019.

Crystal Chords Chairman, Carole McGlone said: "As a group of local women of varying ages and backgrounds, it's a real acknowledgement of the friendship and joy that we all get from our hobby that we have reached our 40th anniversary. It's a source of great pride that some of our founder members still sing with us and we hope to have all families and friends with us at our show to commemorate this milestone in the chorus's history.".

Crystal Chords are celebrating their anniversary with a gala show at the Royal Northern College of Music on Saturday 7th March where they will feature songs from The Beatles and Take That and from musicals such as ‘The Greatest Showman', ‘La La Land' and West Side Story.
