With top class English football returning to our screens, Stockport sport lovers will

be chomping at the bit to return to competitive action as soon as possible.

And while it may be some time before grass roots teams are allowed to return to the cricket, football, baseball and other pitches – there is a way for people to get their fix.

The Players’ Entrance, based in the Merseyway Shopping Centre, is an indoor sports theme park arena with state-of-the-art simulators, replicating football shootout outs, cricket bowling, golf, F1 racing, darts and much more.

When it first opened the venue was a smash hit with top class sportsmen themselves, including cricket legend Darren Gough, several of the Stockport County team and Premier League Darts sensation Nathan Aspinall who all visited after hearing about the concept.

Now The Players’ Entrance is set to re-open for exclusive hire after the team carried out a full risk assessment and ordered social distancing signage and sanitisation equipment.

Groups will be allowed to book the facility for up to 15 people for 90 minutes exclusive play for just £250, and the venue has a partnership deal with McDonalds meaning that a food and drink package can also be supplied.

Along with the entertainment, bookings will also have a social benefit with the Players’ Entrance matching every booking with a free slot being donated to the key workers In the town, which they can use for friends and family too

Founder Steve Mottershead said: “People have been in daily contact asking when we can re-open because they are desperate to play some sport – especially with the return of football and cricket in the UK whetting their appetite.

“We created the exclusive hire package to keep safe whilst giving them the chance to enjoy the full run of the place and we have already taken several bookings.

“Everyone that books a slot will also trigger a ‘matching’ pledge from us which will see a slot given free of charge to key  workers to thank them for their efforts and reward their friends and family for the sacrifices that have been made.”

Anyone interested in making a booking, should contact the venue on 0161 501 1775 or email your enquiry to contact@theplayersentrance.co.uk

If you are unable to visit The Players Entrance yourself , you can support the effort via crowd funding page (https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/frontline-key-workers-play-4-free-matched-funding) with all monies raised providing free use of the facilities to as many Key Workers as possible.
