Community projects blossoming as Stockport local nurtures new ideas

Stockport Local, our programme of support for communities, is helping to  connect individuals, groups and businesses in communities across Stockport.

Stockport Local Fund continues to back great ideas and grow the community groups network. In the latest round, six awards of under £500 were made last month and a decision on the applications for over £500 will be made this week. The next round of funding will open later this spring and we will be in touch again with more details.

Our Stockport Local online directory of groups and services is where you'll find out what's on and how to get involved and we encourage everyone to spread the word and add your group if you're not already listed.

We are creating digital access to community spaces where groups can meet, organise and hold events, starting with the rollout of our Open+ libraries. You can read more here.

And we are encouraging new partnerships between businesses and the voluntary, community and charitable sector. The first of our ‘Sector Connector’ events last month brought together 60 businesses and organisations from across the voluntary, community and charitable sectors (VCSEs) to discover how new partnerships could benefit both. Get in touch if you'd like to take part in the next event.

This is a really exciting time for Stockport communities and we thank you for getting involved, and encourage you to keep up the good work.
