ALTRINCHAM Market owner Nick Johnson is inspiring a new generation of designers by launching a competition offering pupils the chance to give their head’s office a makeover.

Cheadle Hulme School’s Head’s Study Design Competition has been launched by the Mackie Mayor and Altrincham Market proprietor in collaboration with Hacienda designer Ben Kelly and the school’s new head, Neil Smith.

Focusing on the creative process, pupils have been challenged to present their ideas on a mood board, considering every aspect of interior design including lighting, colour and texture.

The overall winner will be rewarded with a role in the real-life refurbishment of the head’s study.

Nick said: “The purpose of this competition, as well as having fun, is to introduce the students to the start of the design process.

“It’s about exploring the ‘foothills’ of the design process; where and how designs start to evolve and where influences can come from.”
