Fancy taking on one of Britain’s best loved running events? The British Red Cross is on the lookout for proud Mancunians who would like to join the other 30,000 who are hitting the road and taking on this year’s Great Manchester Run 2020. The popular running event takes on some of Manchester’s most iconic landmarks, and with entertainment and cheer points every 500m, it is sure to be a race like no other.

Taking place on Sunday 24th May, the race is open to runners of all levels, and the Red Cross has places in both the 10k race and the half marathon.

Kathryn Hoyle, Senior Community Fundraiser for the area says, “The Great Manchester Run is always an incredible event. It brings together people from across the city and is a real celebration of Mancunian pride. The British Red Cross has a long history of supporting people right here in the city, whether it is providing support at home after a hospital stay, responding to a local house fire or flood, or supporting those most affected by the 2017 Arena bombing. We are so proud of our local services and would love to see the Red Cross represented out there on the streets of Manchester, on this special day for the city.”

To run as part of Team Red Cross you can sign up at https://www.redcross.org.uk/mcr. Registration is just £20 for a 10k entry or £25 for the half marathon. All participants are challenged to raise £250 and will receive their special Red Cross running vest once they hit £100 of their target. Runners will also be supported every step along with the way, with expert fundraising advice in the run up and an unmissable cheer squad who will be there to support them on the day itself.
