STOCKPORT'S giant frogs have helped raise more than £37,000 for St Ann's Hospice.
That's the final figure from Totally Stockport's Gigantic Leap Art Trail, One Stockport Frogs and a host of other amphibious activities in 2021.
Following the success of Stockport's first art trail in 2019, the town's Gigantic leap Frog Art Trail, organised by Totally Stockport, created a unique trail of 21 gigantic amphibians across the town centre last summer.
They were joined by 17 One Stockport frogs located in district centres to make it a borough wide project.
The giant frog sculptures celebrated each area's uniqueness and attracted visitors to high streets across Stockport to encourage people to support their local traders who had been severely impacted by the lockdowns and restricted opening due to the pandemic.
The 21 town centre frogs, alongside seven of the One Stockport frogs, raised £34,920 when they were sold at a charity auction event held at Stockport County's Edgeley Park grounds in November.
Other contributions from frog-related fundraising activities in schools and businesses in Stockport has seen a total of £37,722.71 raised so far for the hospice.
In Heald Green, where the hospice charity is based, local people and businesses also raised a further £1,661 thanks to their contributions that saw 'Mercury Frog' come to Finney Lane.
The One Stockport Frog features a range of key landmarks in the area and takes its name from the former telephone code for the area, as Hg is Mercury's chemical symbol.
