THE annual Stockport Jobs Fair is returning for 2019, giving jobseekers the opportunity to meet a number of high profile local employers, who are all looking to fill a variety of roles.

The Jobs Fair is free to attend and takes place on Tuesday, September 24 between 10am and 2pm at Stockport Town Hall.

This is your chance to meet with over 40 employers, all with current vacancies, as well as support services such as the national Careers Service. So whether you're taking the first steps in your career, are looking for a new challenge or simply need some support, Stockport Jobs Fair can help to move your career forward.

Confirmed companies who will be there on the day include: Vodafone, Manchester Airport Group, Sky, Lex Autolease, Alpha LSG, BUPA and The Light Cinema. Companies are recruiting to a range of roles including customer service, warehouse, drivers, HR, IT, care, cleaning, security and hospitality.

As an annual event organised by Stockport Council and Jobcentre Plus, the Jobs Fair has a track record of matching employers with their future employees and has proven to be a popular event, with 500 jobseekers attending last year.

There will also be an information session on Apprenticeships, allowing any visitors to find out more about the benefits of becoming an Apprentice, and ask questions in an informal setting.

Councillor David Meller, Cabinet Member for Economy & Regeneration at Stockport Council, said: "I'd encourage anyone considering anew role or opportunity to take a couple of hours out of their day to see what's on offer at the Jobs Fair.

"We have a diverse range of industries in Stockport and this is a great way for local people to meet with employers and get the support they need to further their career.

"I'm really keen on ensuring that residents are benefiting from the current boom in economic growth that we are seeing across the borough. Recent figures show that we're performing really well; in the top 20 nationally for growth for the first quarter of this year and we have productivity above the North West average. The jobs fair is a great way of supporting this."

There's no need to book - just turn up and remember to bring a copy of your CV if you have one. For more information, please email Stockport Council's Economy, Work & Skills Service at: EconomyWS@stockport.gov.uk
